It’s not often that I have to get dressed up. Thankfully, I haven’t been to a funeral for some years, but sadly there hasn’t been a wedding for some time either.
Working from home as I do, or as a travel writer working solo on the road means I set my own dress code, which is, lets say, ‘informal’. I’ve never owned a suit and I reckon life is way too short for ironing. That’s either liberating or a testament to the fact that my life’s never amounted to much – I’m slightly anxious that the latter may be more true. Nevertheless, if a garment in a shop requires hand-washing or has other special-care instructions I’ll always choose another made of sturdier stuff.
